In Remembrance of Those We Lost: September 11, 2001

September 11, 2001, is a day forever etched into our hearts. Most of us can still remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when we hear#911d the news.

We watched in disbelief as thousands of innocent lives were lost in New York City, at the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. Families lost their loved ones, and countless lives were forever changed.

But I also remember what followed. For a time, the lines that often divided us seemed to disappear. We were not focused on our differences. We were one nation, one people—we were all Americans. We grieved together, prayed together, and stood together.

Today, we remember those who lost their lives, the loved ones they left behind, the brave first responders, and the everyday heroes who put the lives of others before their own.

May we never forget those we lost—and may we always remember the strength, compassion, and unity we shared.
