I never thought I’d be the target of one of the most convincing scam phone calls I’ve ever received—but it happened.
The caller claimed I had missed a federal court summons and even threatened to send federal marshals to my home. It sounded official, and that’s exactly how these scammers want you to feel. They use fear and urgency to pressure people into making quick decisions.
Thankfully, I trusted my instincts, hung up the phone, and immediately called the police. What they shared with me afterward is the real reason I’m writing this post. These scams are affecting real people, and unfortunately, some victims have lost thousands of dollars.
